What we think of Performancing Ads

Updated July 27th - So they fixed the problem where you couldn't edit website information, it now works. They also changed their payout levels from 50% to 60%. But 60% is just the minimum, the more ads you sell the bigger your cut will be, up to 90%. This is exactly why you shouldn't freak out and abandon an ad company right away, somethings things turn around.
There's been a bit of chatter about Performancing Ads in the last few days. I figured it's worth a look, considering how popular 125 x 125 ads have become recently. So far though, I have mixed opinions on the program so far.
I signed up yesterday and added two of my photo-blogs to the program. I made one region near the top of each blog, and set the price to $15 per week. When I tried updating the information about one of my websites, it gave me an error saying "This name already exists". This means they don't have an edit option, just an add option right now. They're new though, I can cut them a break. I sent them an email about it last night, and have not yet received a response.
This morning I woke up with an email saying somebody purchased an ad slot. Great news! I login to check it out and I see that I only have $7.50 in my account. My first thought was "there's no way they take 50%", so I did a little digging and sure enough they take 50% of what your asking price is. Ouch.
Performancing Ads pays out the first week of every month, for the amount you made the previous month. So I might have to wait until the first week of September to make sure they actually pay.
Installation is pretty easy. I downloaded the custom PHP software and it took just a couple minutes to install. They have tutorials for most major blogging platforms as well. "Trade ads" will show up in your ad space until somebody buys one of your ads.
So what am I going to do with Performancing Ads? I'm definitely not going to implement it across all my websites until I get a better feel for it, and hopefully they will lower their cut as well. Don't get me wrong they need to make money, but 50% is a lot. This means you will have to increase your asking price to get a better cut, and that means less advertisers willing to buy an ad. For now I'm going to keep 2-4 ads on my two photo-blogs for now and see what it does.
I will keep you updated with my results. If you want to give it a try, there's nothing wrong with adding an extra income source. Join Performancing Ads.
