Why you should save an article for Sunday

I've been slacking off a little bit today, being lazy around the house and playing some games. Usually when I go just a few hours without checking my RSS feeds, they pile up to over 100 unread very quickly. Today I took about four hours away from the computer, and when I came back to check my RSS feeds I only had about 40 unread. I've probably noticed this before but didn't really think about it until now. You should always save an article to post Sunday morning. Why?
Less people post on Sunday, so more people will take the time to read your post.
As most people who use RSS know, the weekends (more so on Sunday) are slow days for new posts. This may be because people are out doing things not at the computer on weekends, but at one point or another, usually, they'll be home and might just want to check out whats going on. This gives bloggers a better chance to have somebody take the time to read over your whole article and maybe get them engaged in comments. Since people don't have a hundred other feeds to read over they will be more likely to engage with what is being posted.
Put more focus on yourself.
I don't always have a lot of time to read through every article in my RSS feed, so sometimes that "Mark All as Read" button gets clicked, a lot. I'll still skim through everything, but unless you grab my attention I'm moving on. But if there aren't many feeds to go through, I'll take my time and read through all of them. Sundays are a perfect example of this. Your new article will be sitting there with no company, and people will have to take a look at it!
Don't write on Sundays, just post on Sundays.
All this doesn't mean you have to spend your lazy Sunday writing articles and following every comment that comes your way. Simply have one ready that you wrote during the week, then on Sunday spend two minutes posting it up then get out and enjoy the day. When you get back home you can spend a little time replying to comments and getting ready for Monday. You might miss a post one day during the week, but it's a good sacrifice if you gain more readers by posting it Sunday.
Track your results.
Make sure you have web stats software (like Google Analytics). After a couple weeks, take a look at the article stats for Sunday's post, and compare them to your other posts. If you notice a jump in readers, make sure you keep posting on Sundays, and save one of your better articles for that post.
After you start posting an article every Sunday, your readers will be accustomed to this and be excited to sit down and read you on Sunday. I look forward to freelance switch's 'freelance freedom' comic that they post every Sunday evening. It always has some humor and is good for a laugh. Let me know your thoughts on this idea. If you've done this before (or are currently doing it), what have your results been like?
