Your 15 megabytes of fame

By Alex on July 18th 2008 - 0 comments

I was just watching "Caught on Tape" on MSNBC. They've shown a lot of "homemade" videos, like the one where 8 girls kidnap another girl and beat on her for 30 minutes. I'll say I'm not a fan of these videos or reality TV, people getting a kick out of the suffering of others doesn't seem right to me. But some investigator lady used a term I've never heard before, when she was explaining why these dumb-asses videotape their crimes. "They want their 15 megabytes of fame".

You've probably been there. You hit the front page of digg and 24 hours later all that traffic is gone. They loved you and left you just like that.

If you get your chance in the sun, you have to shine. You have to be memorable so people know who you are and want to come back to your blog. Darren at ProBlogger wrote these two articles on how to make your posts "sticky". In the second post (which I'm quoted in) he talks about making your whole blog sticky. They're great posts you should read right now.
