Do you Plurk?

By Alex on July 16th 2008 - 6 comments

I've never tried any micro-blogging service like Twitter or Plurk before. I just loved hearing people complain that "Twitter can't scale", which was actually another reason I didn't sign up. Then the Mars Lander got it's own Twitter account so I joined, but really didn't do much on it.

Then people started talking about Plurk, a lot. People said it's better than Twitter because it doesn't crash, conversations are easy to follow, there's karma and overall more reason to interact with the website and your friends. So I jumped on the bandwagon a couple days ago and got a Plurk account.

I now see why people can't stop talking about it, and I think it's got huge potential (especially for freelancers and bloggers) to really keep in touch and kick ideas around.

So click here to join me on Plurk! And give me your thoughts about Plurk, and micro-blogging in general.

Interesting, never heard of Plurk. I signed up for a Twitter account awhile ago and never kept up with it. I think too many people use Twitter that it'll be harder to get people to transition to Plurk. Are you afraid you're missing out on the networking with people on Twitter?

@Erik, While many people do use Twitter, lots of those people have Plurk accounts too because they've heard such good things about it. Darren from Pro Blogger is a good example. I'm not worried about missing out on networking on Twitter because I only recently joined both networks. It's hard to miss something you never had!

But I would suggest you at least look at Plurk and see if you do like it better than Twitter.

Definitely going to give it a look and once I have more time (away from the day job) signup and get myself plurking?? (is that a word?)

Plurking is the word :P And if you have a twitter account let your friends there know with a link to your Plurk profile, bring some over and see if it'll be worth staying and plurking.

Plurk is a lot more aesthetically pleasing than twitter too. You can change you dashboard colours and background colours and blah blah.

But most importantly, Plurk gives you a feeling of being, you know, involved in the discussion. Whereas in Twitter, it's more of a disorganized flock of philosophers trying to voice their opinion, leaving us naive people in the dust :D

I just wonder where I going to place plurk on my blog since I already have twiter
